Moodap is a mood-based way to decide where to go in New York City. You answer eight quick questions about the outing, like where, when, who is coming, the energy you want, and your budget, and Moodap suggests places that fit from 26,228 active venue profiles in Manhattan.

Moodap was started in New York by people who were tired of scrolling through long lists to pick a place. The idea is simple: start with the kind of outing you want, then show only the places that fit it.

Mood Match and venue browsing currently do not require payment. Visitor passes on the Tourism page are an optional paid product. Product terms can change; any paid offering would be described before purchase.

26,228 active venue profiles across 45 Manhattan neighborhoods, including bars, restaurants, cafes, entertainment venues, and activities. The total is refreshed from the live catalog.

Moodap compares your answers with the venues in its catalog, checks they are open at that time, and shows the places that fit best.

Most people finish in well under a minute. Each question is a single tap, with no typing required.

Eight questions, in this order: (1) Which neighborhood? (2) When are you going? (3) What kind of place: drinks, food, both, a cafe, a show, an activity, or fresh air? (4) What type, such as a cuisine or kind of bar? (5) Indoor, outdoor, or either? (6) Who is coming? (7) What crowd energy do you want? (8) What is your budget?

Not always. The best-matched places stay at the top, but places that match about equally well are shuffled for each session, so repeating the quiz can surface different options.

Each venue is scored on how well it fits your answers, using what is known about its atmosphere, setting, group fit, price, and opening hours. Places are then ranked by that score, with distance and ratings used to break close calls. The percentage on a result is a guide to fit and never reaches 100.

Places that score about the same are ordered with a little variation for each session. It keeps repeat visits fresh without pushing weaker matches ahead of strong ones.

As many times as you like. You can also change a single answer from the results instead of starting over.

Tags describe what a place is like, such as "rooftop", "hidden entrance", "late-night kitchen", or "good for groups". They help Moodap match a venue to the outing you describe. Businesses that claim their profile can review and add tags. Tags do not guarantee inclusion, ranking, or a particular result.

Yes. Browse by neighborhood at /new-york-city/neighborhoods or by category at /new-york-city/categories, or search for a venue by name. Every venue has its own profile page.

Results reflect how venues match the preferences selected in the quiz and the venue information available to Moodap. A profile checklist or paid campaign does not promise a higher organic position.

Both. One question asks who is coming: solo, a date or duo, a small group, or a large group. The group answer changes which places are suggested.

Yes. You can change an answer from the results, such as the neighborhood, timing, or budget, and see an updated list. You can also browse by neighborhood or category for more control.

45 Manhattan neighborhoods, from Inwood and Washington Heights in the north to the Financial District and Battery Park City in the south, including Midtown, SoHo, Greenwich Village, the East Village, the Lower East Side, Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, and Harlem.

Venue profiles are built from public sources, such as places data providers and venue websites, and then enriched with details about atmosphere and setting. Businesses can claim their profile to add first-party details like hours, photos, menus, and tags.

Venue data is refreshed regularly, and businesses that claim their profile can update it themselves. If something looks wrong, use the Feedback button or report it through /support.

Yes. Choose drinks as the kind of place, then Speakeasy as the type. You can also browse the Drinks & Nightlife category.

Yes. Pick outdoor in the setting question to see rooftops, patios, beer gardens, and other open-air places, or choose Rooftop as the type of bar.

Yes. Choose Late Night in the timing question. Moodap checks opening hours, so it suggests places that are open then.

The timing question includes Happy Hour, which suggests places that suit that part of the evening. Check the venue profile or the venue directly for specific deals.

Yes. Choose a show as the kind of place, then Live Music, Jazz Club, Comedy Club, Theater, or DJ / Dance as the type.

In the quiz, choose Date / Duo for who is coming and a quieter crowd, then set your budget. You can also browse the Date Night category.

The quiz does not have a family option yet. Choose a small or large group and a relaxed crowd, or browse cafes, museums, and activities in the Activities & Experiences category.

Choose outdoor in the setting question to see places with patios, rooftops, gardens, and sidewalk seating.

Retake the quiz, since similar matches are shuffled for each session, or browse a neighborhood you do not usually visit at /new-york-city/neighborhoods.

Head to /for-businesses, search for your venue, and follow the email verification flow to claim it. Owners can update supported profile details and view available analytics. Claiming or completing the operational checklist does not guarantee a higher organic position.

There is currently no payment step in the owner claim flow. Paid sponsored placements are separate and have terms confirmed before booking. Check the current product terms for any changes.

It is how we confirm you represent the venue. If the venue's website is joesbar.com and you claim it with an address like manager@joesbar.com, we can verify you with a code sent to that address. Claims from other addresses are reviewed manually.

You get access to supported profile-management features such as updating details, photos, hours, and available tags, plus analytics where those data are available. Keep information accurate for customers; profile completeness is not a promised ranking boost.

Tags describe a venue's offerings and can help Moodap match venue information to relevant quiz preferences. They do not guarantee a particular position or inclusion in every result set.

Yes. After claiming your venue, you can add them from the business dashboard. They appear on your public venue profile.

The owner dashboard shows supported activity metrics when available. These may describe platform events, not in-person visits or purchases; analytics availability can vary and does not prove that Moodap caused a customer visit.

Claim status by itself is not presented as a ranking advantage. Organic results depend on the quiz request and venue information; claiming gives owners profile-management access, not a ranking guarantee.

Yes. Once your claim is verified, you can update hours, photos, and other details from the business dashboard.
